Description
When your steering starts feeling loose or you have to fight the wheel to keep your tractor going straight, a worn track rod end is usually the culprit. This steering component connects your steering box to the front wheels, translating every turn of your steering wheel into precise tire movement. It’s not just about comfort – sloppy steering is dangerous when you’re working around ditches, backing up to implements, or navigating tight spaces around the farm.
What You’re Getting
- 470mm overall length engineered to maintain proper steering geometry on these bigger tractors
- 3/4″ UNF threading provides secure connection and allows for precise toe-in adjustments
- Grease-able ball joint design lets you maintain smooth operation and extend service life
- Heat-treated forged steel construction stands up to the heavy steering loads these tractors generate
- Corrosion-resistant finish protects against moisture, chemicals, and the punishment of farm work
Built for Real Farm Work
These track rod ends fit Massey Ferguson tractors from the smaller 100 series utility models all the way up to the heavy-duty 600 series machines. Whether you’re cultivating with a 165, running a loader on a 265, or pulling heavy implements with a 590, these tractors put serious stress on steering components. The 3/4″ UNF thread and 470mm length are specifically sized for the larger steering forces these machines generate.
Made to Last
This isn’t a car part dressed up for tractor use – it’s purpose-built for agricultural punishment. The forged steel construction resists bending under heavy loads, while the heat-treated components maintain their strength through countless hours of field work. The sealed ball joint keeps dirt and moisture out while the grease fitting lets you maintain smooth operation season after season.
Installation Notes
Use a proper ball joint separator to remove the old end – hammering on steering arms can damage them. Before removing the old track rod end, count the exposed threads or measure its position so you can set the new one close to the same spot. After installation, you’ll need to check your toe-in setting since improper alignment will wear out your new parts quickly and cause tire wear. Always replace these in pairs when possible – if one’s worn out, the other isn’t far behind.
