Description
When your plow starts leaving streaks or not turning the furrow cleanly, it’s often the shin that’s worn out. This right-hand shin is the curved piece that guides soil flow along your moldboard, and when it gets beat up from rocks or years of service, your plowing quality goes downhill fast. Getting a fresh shin back on there makes all the difference in how your furrows lay.
What You’re Getting
- Heavy-duty 5/16 inch steel construction built to handle rocky ground and tough conditions
- Two 7/16 inch bolt holes for secure mounting that won’t work loose in the field
- Comes in a 6-piece bundle so you can refresh multiple bottoms or keep spares on hand
- Right-hand configuration fits the working side where most wear occurs
Built for Real Farm Work
This shin is designed specifically for International Harvester Super Chief plows in 16, 18, and 20-inch sizes. These were serious plows built for row-crop farming and heavy tillage work. Whether you’re turning under corn stubble or breaking new ground, having the right shin profile keeps your plow cutting clean and throwing soil where it should go.
Made to Last
The 5/16 inch steel thickness gives you the durability you need without adding unnecessary weight to your plow. SMA manufactures these to handle the constant soil abrasion and impact that comes with field work. The steel holds its edge reasonably well and can be sharpened or straightened when needed.
Good to Know
Installation involves removing the old shin bolts and swapping in the new piece – pretty straightforward if you’ve got basic tools. Since this comes as a 6-pack, it’s a good time to check the condition of shins on your other bottoms. Hardware isn’t included, so make sure you’ve got good bolts to secure everything properly.
