Description
When your disc harrow starts leaving strips of uncut corn stalks and matted residue instead of properly sizing and burying crop debris, it’s time to swap out those worn blades for ones with real cutting power. This 24-inch notched blade brings aggressive cutting action back to your harrow, turning tough corn stalks and matted residue into properly sized pieces that’ll break down instead of hair-pinning around your planter next spring.
What You’re Getting
- Aggressive notched edge creates a scissor action that slices through tough stalks other blades just bend over
- Boron 15B26 steel maintains perfect hardness at 46-52 Rockwell – hard enough to hold an edge through acres of tillage, but not so brittle it shatters when you clip a field stone
- Quarter-inch thickness provides the beef needed for long service life, while 2.80-inch concavity creates aggressive soil-throwing action
- Single punch mounting hole for secure fit on 1-1/8 inch square axles
Built for Real Farm Work
Your disc harrow needs to do more than just roll over crop residue – it needs to cut, size, and mix that material into the soil profile. In high-residue conditions like continuous corn or after cover crops, that notched edge makes the difference between effective residue management and a plugged-up mess.
Made to Last
Osmundson doesn’t mess around with blade materials. No fancy coatings here – just quality steel that works. This blade’s built to handle the punishment of rocky fields, heavy residue, and the daily grind of aggressive tillage operations.
Installation Notes
When replacing blades, never mix worn and new on the same gang – the diameter difference creates uneven cutting that leaves mohawk strips. Check for elongated holes from wear – loose blades wobble and wear prematurely. Field tip: Notched blades excel in heavy residue but can be too aggressive in light soils, so many operators run notched blades on front gangs for cutting, smooth on rear for finishing.
