Description
When your International’s turbo diesel is starting to blow by, losing power, or burning oil, it’s time to get serious about a rebuild. A basic in-frame kit gives you the core components to refresh those cylinders and get back the compression and power you need without the expense of a complete teardown. This kit has everything you need to sleeve up the cylinders, install fresh pistons and rings, and seal things up with quality gaskets.
What You’re Getting
- Fresh cylinder sleeves with seals that restore proper bore dimensions and sealing
- New pistons and rings engineered for the high compression ratios these diesels demand
- Quality pins and retainers that handle the stress of turbocharged operation
- Complete valve-grind gasket set plus oil pan gasket for proper sealing throughout
- All components designed specifically for the 466 cubic inch, 6-cylinder powerplant
Built for Big Field Work
This kit fits the heavy-duty International tractors that handle the serious farming—the 1470s and 1480s that pull big planters and cultivators, plus the high-horsepower models like the 5288s, 6588s, and 7288s that run large discs and heavy tillage equipment. These turbocharged 466 engines were built to work all day in tough conditions, pulling implements that smaller tractors just can’t handle.
Made to Last
The Tru-Power brand builds these components to handle the demands of turbocharged diesel operation. Tru-Power has been trusted by farmers for decades, understanding what it takes to handle the constant vibration and temperature cycles of tractor work. The cupped-head pistons are designed specifically for the combustion characteristics of these engines.
Installation Notes
This is an in-frame rebuild that keeps the engine in the tractor, but you’ll still need machine shop services for cylinder boring and honing. Make sure to check crankshaft journals and bearing clearances while you’re in there. The thick-wall sleeves require proper installation tools for best results, and torque specifications are critical on these high-compression engines.
