Description
If you’ve noticed your tractor running hot during heavy work or the fan roaring constantly even in cool weather, that viscous fan clutch has likely given up the ghost. This smart little component is the brain of your cooling system—it knows exactly when your engine needs maximum airflow and when it can ease off to save fuel and power. When it’s working right, you’ll have quiet operation, better fuel economy, and cooling exactly when you need it.
What You’re Getting
- Temperature-sensitive viscous coupling that automatically adjusts fan speed based on actual conditions
- Saves 10-15 horsepower during normal operation compared to a locked fan
- Progressive engagement prevents shock loads that destroy belts and bearings
- Sealed construction maintains proper calibration throughout its service life
Built for Real Farm Work
This viscous clutch fits Case IH CX Series tractors (CX70 and CX80) along with the Maxxum MX80C—machines built for versatility in everything from loader work to field operations. These mid-range tractors handle a wide variety of tasks where smart cooling management really pays off, whether you’re running PTO equipment, pulling implements, or doing transport work.
Made to Last
Inside this clutch is a precisely calibrated system using temperature-sensitive silicone fluid that responds predictably throughout its service life. The robust sealed construction prevents contamination that would mess up the clutch’s carefully tuned response, giving you years of maintenance-free operation under typical farm conditions.
Installation Notes
Handle this unit carefully—never store it on its side or upside down as the silicone fluid inside can migrate and affect performance. Check your fan blades for damage or imbalance before installation since a bent fan will destroy a new clutch quickly. After installation, the fan should spin easily when cold but gradually engage as the engine warms up.
