Description
When your planter isn’t closing the seed trench properly, you end up with poor stands, uneven emergence, and seed that’s vulnerable to moisture loss or critters. The closing wheel arm is what holds those wheels in the right position to firm up the soil over each seed. If your arm is worn, bent, or the bushings are shot, you won’t get the consistent seed-to-soil contact that makes the difference between a good crop and a great one.
What You’re Getting
- Cast iron construction that won’t bend or break under field stress
- Precision fit keeps closing wheels aligned for even soil closure
- Uses bushings for smooth operation and easy maintenance
- Direct replacement for your worn or damaged original arm
Built for Real Farm Work
This arm fits a wide range of John Deere planters from the MaxEmerge XP and Plus series through the newer DB planters, along with 1700 series and 1530/1535 grain drills. Whether you’re planting corn in spring or drilling beans in no-till ground, this is the same quality part that came on your machine from the factory.
Made to Last
Farm equipment takes a beating, and planter parts see some of the worst of it—rocks, roots, and constant flexing as you roll across the field. This cast iron arm is built to handle those stresses without cracking or wearing out prematurely. The bushing system keeps everything moving smoothly while standing up to dust and moisture.
Good to Know
When installing, make sure you’ve got the right bushings—this arm uses SMA55888 bushings, and you’ll need two per arm. It’s worth checking the condition of your closing wheels while you’re in there, since a worn wheel can cause uneven soil closure even with a new arm. A little grease on the bushings during installation keeps everything running smooth.
