Description
When your Ford 8000-series tractor starts burning oil or losing compression, you know it’s time for a rebuild. This basic engine overhaul kit gives you everything you need to bring that 401 CID six-cylinder diesel back to life. Whether you’re tackling the job yourself or working with your mechanic, this kit takes the guesswork out of ordering parts.
What You’re Getting

- Complete gasket set ensures every seal is fresh and leak-free
- Pin bushings included for a complete bottom-end refresh
- Tru-Power quality parts built to match original specifications
Built for Big Iron
This kit is designed specifically for the 401 cubic inch diesel engines found in Ford 8000, 8200, and 8600 tractors built from October 1972 through July 1976. These were serious workhorses—big frame tractors that handled heavy field work, plowing, and PTO applications where reliability was everything.
Made to Last
Tru-Power has been rebuilding farm engines for decades, so they know what it takes to stand up to agricultural use. These parts are manufactured to meet or exceed the original specifications, giving you the confidence to put your tractor back to work for years to come.
Installation Notes
This is a basic kit, so you’ll need to order bearings separately if yours need replacement. The .020 inch oversized pistons work with a standard bore that’s been cleaned up, but check with your machine shop about bore condition before final assembly. Having your block checked for cracks and deck warpage is always good insurance on a rebuild this size.
